ADELE JOHNSON

                                       SONGWRITING

                                                  Adele Johnson

2006, 2007, & 2008 Country Gospel Music Association Silver Heart Recipient for, Canadian Songwriter of the Year!!!

Ask her what she values most in this life and the answer will always be: Faith, Family, and Friends... in that order.

Perhaps these priorities account for the late start on her music career, choosing to focus on raising four children with her husband Ralph before undertaking a musical adventure such as she has enjoyed in the last ten years.

For as long as she can remember, Adele has loved to write songs, with melodies naturally flowing to the words she pens.

Adele's music is honest, sweet and sincere, telling stories and painting musical portraits of everyday triumphs and heartaches, drawing on her experiences as a Christian, a farmer's wife and homeschooling mom to relate her optimism through heartbreak, which she joyfully relates to her audiences on her acoustic guitar, accompanied by husband Ralph on bass and background vocals.

While continuing to farm with Ralph in Vilna, Alberta on their commercial cow/calf ranch and
homeschooling their children, Adele continues to share her God-given gifts of songwriting and singing,a joy and privilege she does not take for granted.

PROCLAIMING THE WORD THROUGH MUSIC

DEB ELKINK

        PROCLAIMING THE WORD THROUGH FICTION

                                 Workshops by Deb Elkink

Referring to her own life experiences and eliciting yours, Deb invites you to consider and reflect on:

1) DEVELOPING AS A FICTION WRITER (b/i):

Consider the basic principles to developing as a Christian fiction writer (the 5 Ws and H of our mission) and reflect on the story stages of preparation, expression, submission and the dreaded rejection.

2) THE INTERACTION OF LITERATURE AND THEOLOGY (i/a):

Consider how literature influences theology (think Jenkins eschatology in Left Behind, Peretti's spiritual warfare, Thoene's Zionism, Kingsolver's view of missions in Poisonwood Bible) and reflect on our responsibility as writers to reinterpret the Word for our readers by establishing Bible doctrine (message) as foundation for our fiction (method).

BIO: Deb Elkink received the 2012 Grace Irwin Award Winner for her novel, THE THIRD GRACE. She holds an MA in Theology from Briercrest Seminary (SK), and -- though she has written nonfiction and is an editor for journal articles for academics--she's most passionate about story. She lives with her husband on the banks of a creek half an hour from Medicine Hat, travels internationally for pleasure, and loves having their three kids home for weekends. Deb is currently working on her second novel.
